Background

The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) is the peak body responsible for certifying and setting standards for translators and interpreters in Australia. Seeking to provide a seamless online experience for its diverse audience, NAATI continued their partnership with OSKY in 2022; engaging them to modernise their website, improve user experience (UX), and ensure accessibility compliance.

With a wide range of users, including language professionals, students, and those seeking language services, NAATI needed a user-centric website that made their services easily accessible. The existing website’s design had become dated, and the user journey was not optimised for the diverse needs of its audience. Additionally, NAATI aimed to empower their team to independently manage and publish content through the use of Elementor.

Engagement and Approach

Building upon their existing partnership, OSKY had established a continuous collaboration with NAATI. Previously, their efforts had primarily revolved around technical enhancements and integrations. However, in this latest engagement, the focus shifted towards elevating user experience, design, and content management – marking a more design-oriented and content-focused phase of their digital transformation journey.

Solution

  • User-Centric Design: the user experience and site structure were reworked to ensure that NAATI's diverse audience could quickly find the key services they required. This included refining navigation paths and optimising content placement.
  • Modern Design: The website's design was refreshed to align with contemporary aesthetics, enhancing visual appeal and establishing a modern online identity for NAATI.
  • Elementor Integration: To provide flexibility in page layout and empower NAATI to manage content independently, OSKY rebuilt the page editing engine from ground up withElementor—an advanced page builder. This change enabled NAATI to create and edit complex page layouts with ease.
  • Responsive Design: Recognising the importance of mobile browsing, OSKY ensured that the new website design was fully responsive, delivering a consistent and engaging experience across various devices.
  • Accessibility Compliance: The website was developed in adherence to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards, ensuring that all users, including those with disabilities, could access and engage with the content seamlessly.

The outcome

This collaboration between NAATI and OSKY has brought about significant enhancements to NAATI’s online presence. The modern design, improved UX, and optimised site structure have made accessing services and resources effortless for their diverse users. The integration of Elementor has empowered NAATI’s team to efficiently manage content, enhancing their self-sufficiency in publishing pages and updates.

The ongoing partnership between NAATI and OSKY demonstrates the impact of strategic digital transformation in addressing user needs and organisational goals. The revitalised website not only provides an enriched online experience but also ensures accessibility for all users, reflecting NAATI’s commitment to inclusivity while still delivering a superior user experience.
