Animation. One way to capture the user’s attention and interest, an animation is a process or technique of adding the illusion of motion to an on-screen element.
Breadcrumb. This tells your users their location on the website, and it follows the format of Home/Section/Page.
Clutter. It’s one of the major web design blunders that translate to low readability. Websites packed with too many elements and too much information look cluttered.
Colour Scheme. This refers to the collection of monochromatic, analogous, complementary, or triadic colours that will be integrated into your website design.
Empty State. It’s when a certain page does not have any content or is waiting for the content from the user, like blank profile pages.
Fixed Layout. It’s the standard layout type with fixed width and resolutions.
Fold. This refers to part of the web page that is visible without scrolling. In website design, content is conventionally placed “above the fold.”
Hero Image. It’s the cover photo or the main image that is visible above the fold.
Landing Page. It’s any page where the user enters the website.
Progressive Enhancement. It’s the technique where fundamental elements are added onto a website first, before loading them up with more complicated and advanced layers.
Responsive Design. It’s a web pattern that enables your website to adjust to different dimensions across multiple platforms.
Skeumorphism. It’s a design trend of making items closely follow the appearance of their real-world counterparts.
Transition. It’s a web design technique that enables seamlessly switching between two states.
White Space. Also called negative space, it’s the blank space between design elements in a web page.
